Sept. 16 - BETHANY, W. Va. - The Bethany men's soccer team defeated La Roche on Friday, 3-1, in a non-conference matchup.
The Bison came out firing on all cylinders against the Redhawks.
Jack Waters (Epsom, United Kingdom/Glyn School) got things started offensively for the day. The senior captain picked up a cross from Adam Franco (Inglewood, Ca./Carter) on the left side just inside the six-yard box and went to the goalie's left for the first score of the day.
The Green and White would not let up there when just three minutes later, defender Ian Hayhurst (Fairmont, W. Va./East Fairmont) found his way in front of the net. He took a pass from Waters on the right side of the net and finished for his first goal of the season.
In the 32nd minute, Daniel Booth (Stockport, Cheshire, England/Poynton) single-handedly beat his defender on his way to the goal where he finished to put the Bison up 3-0, which would hold until the half.
In the second half, the Bison kept up the pressure on offense.
The visitors were able to net a goal in the 74th minute. However, they would not get any closer and the score would as 3-1 for the rest of the half.
With the win, the Bison sit at 2-2-2 on the season. They are in action tomorrow again tomorrow at Franciscan for a 4p.m. kickoff.
