Gage Lotozo

Gage Lotozo

Gage Lotozo enters his third season as a member of the Bethany coaching staff and will be in charge of the linebacking corps in 2016.

In 2015, Lotozo took over as the coach of the linebackers after spending one season as the Bison’s running backs coach. Last year, he led a pair of players to All-PAC status, including second-team selection Donavan Hayden, and honorable mention honoree Dylan Stewart.

Lotozo helped Hayden collect his second-consecutive all-conference honor. Hayden became the second player to eclipse back-to-back 100-tackle seasons, after tallying 109 in 2015 (ranked second in the conference).

During his time as the running backs coach, the Bison running game saw an upswing of production. Lotozo helped lead the Bison to 171.0 yards per contest in 2014, ranking third in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference. They also improved in scoring on the ground, increasing their production to 18 touchdowns on the season.

In eight of the 11 games during the 2014 campaign, the Green & White tallied at least 100 yards on the ground, compared to just four times in 2013. Bethany also amassed 200 yards in four seperate games and broke the 300-yard plateau, twice. The high-water mark for the running game was 336 yards and five touchdowns against St. Vincent College.

Prior to his time as a coach with the Green & White, Lotozo spent a year as a teacher and coach at Bishop Rosecrans High School in Zanesville, Ohio. While at Bishop Roscrans, Lotozo was the head varsity coach of the baseball team, while also serving as the defensive coordinator, as well as linebacker and running back coach for the football program.

Lotozo was a four-year member of the Bison football team and a three-year starter at linebacker. Over the course of his career, Lotozo totaled 126 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and five sacks. He graduated from Bethany with a degree in History in 2012.

A native of Somerset, Ohio, Lotozo is enrolled in Bethany’s Master of Arts in Teaching program.
