Bethany's Kelly Earns Third-Team All-Region Selection from NFCA

MAY 10 – LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After leading the Bison softball team to the program's most wins since 2011, as well as a berth in the Eastern College Athletic Conference DIII South Regional Championships, junior Kayla Kelly (Pasadena, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) has been honored with a Third-Team All-Central Region selection by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, announced the NFCA on Monday afternoon.

Kelly, who has also earned First-Team All-PAC and First-Team All-Academic All-District honors, led the Bison in almost every major category during the 2015 campaign.

Kelly finished the 2015 campaign hitting a career-best .381. Slugging .612 over the course of the season, she also tallied an on-base percentage of .446 which both also led the program.

The junior posted the second-most hits in the conference in 2015, finishing with 53 total, including 16 extra-base hits. Kelly finished the year with five doubles, a conference-leading six triples, tying a Bethany school record, while also hitting five home runs. She also posted career-highs in both RBI (30) and runs scored (38). Her 85 total bases and 14 stolen bases on the season also each led the Presidents' Athletic Conference.

Kelly becomes the first player to earn an All-Region selection from the NFCA since Maria Vallone was named a First-Team selection in 2012.

Kayla is the daughter of Robert and Lisa Kelly of Pasadena, Md.
