West Liberty, W.Va. – The Bethany College softball team hosted the Franciscan University Barons in a PAC doubleheader at West Liberty University Friday afternoon.
Game One Overview
Bethany 3, Franciscan 2
Neither team scored until the sixth inning when Franciscan went ahead 1-0. In the bottom half of the inning, the Bison scored three runs. Jennifer Oberthur doubled to knot the game at 1-1. Angela Brandel drove in Oberthur. Paige Allen doubled to score Brandel. The Bison led 3-1 after six innings of play. The Barons battled and earned a run the seventh inning.
Sophomore Josie Wise pitched 7.0 innings with seven hits and two runs (2 earned). She fanned 10 batters.
Game Two Overview
Bethany 9, Franciscan 0
The Bison struck early and first to take a 2-0 lead. Destiny Goodnight capitalized on Barons error and reached home safely. After the first inning, Bethany led 2-0. In the third inning, Haley Eyeler doubled to extend the Bison lead to 3-0 after three innings of play. The Bison bats came alive during the third inning. Bethany scored five runs in the fourth to take game two from the Barons.
