YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Bethany College men's track and field team competed in their very first competition of the 2024-25 indoor season. The Bison had a standout performer in Caliyph McClinton, who set a school record in the meet.
McClinton set a school record in the 60 meter, finishing in 6.98 seconds. He became only the second sprinter in Bethany College history to the finish line with a sub seven. The only other instance was the previous record holder Andre Butler in 2017 with a 6.99.
McClinton shaved the slightest bit off that time to claim the throne as the fastest man in Bethany College indoor history. It was the last piece to the puzzle to own that title ubiquitously, as McClinton owns both of the sprint records for outdoor. His 100m is a 10.87 set at the President Athletic Conference Championships. His 200m is an equally impressive 21.84.
Other Top 25 Performers
-
Shavel Lesley finished 20th with a 7.22 in the 60m. He was the fastest Bison behind McClinton.
-
Koda Moore tied for 25th in the shot put with a throw of 10.80m. He had even more success in the weight throw, finishing 20th with a throw of 10.22m.
-
McClinton had another high finish outside of his 12th place finish in the 100. He ran a 22.61 in the 200m. It was good enough to place him 21st.
The Bison will have an extended period off before hitting the blocks again. They will head back up to Youngstown State Friday, January 17th to test their speed in a new calendar year.
