Men's Wrestling Shuts Out Penn State-Altoona For First Program Win

ALTOONA, Pa. - Bethany has secured their first dual-meet victory of the 21st century in electric fashion.

The Bison completed a 57-0 sweep over Penn-State Altoona, with every Bison collecting bonus points.

Key bouts were sprinkled throughout the dual, but 125 pounder Angelo Di Pol got the Bison started off on a strong note. After a few flurries of takedowns, Di Pol stuck his opponent in just over a minute, keeping himself fresh for the quad meet Friday.

Braylon Leiffer showed his skill on top in his 141 bout. Leiffer tilted his way to a 20-2 tech fall in the early seconds of the second period.

174 Jonathan Braun was the only Bison to wrestle a full match, taking down Altoona's most accomplished wrestler with a 10-2 major decision.

Christopher Dreher had the biggest crowd reaction. The 184 pounder had a massive lift from a double leg to take his opponent straight to his back for a 30 second fall.

The Bison will compete in a quad meet tomorrow in all Division II competition. They'll take on Glenville State, Davis and Elkins, and Georgetown College.
