LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Bethany College women's wrestling team competed at the Randolph Tri-Match hosted by Randolph (Va.) College where they fell to the host Randolph by a score of 27-21 and defeated Liberty (Va.) University's club team by a score of 44-5 at Frances and Don Giles Gymnasium.
The Bison earned their first team victory of the season against Liberty as six different Bison earned wins and four forfeit victories were awarded to Bethany.
After the Flames forfeited each of the first two matches, freshman 117-pounder
Taelor Rae Busch (Omaha, Neb./Mercy) got things started for the Bison by making quick work of Liberty's Julia Silva with a pin in just 32 seconds to give the Green and White an early 15-0 advantage.
Coming off a hot start at last weekend's JCU Open, freshmanÂ
Rose Mary Dodd (Lake Elsinore, Calif./Temescal Canyon) earned her first victory of the day with a 10-0 tech fall in the 131-pound match while 145-pounder
Jasmine Craddock (Chesterfield, Va./Thomas Dale) also stayed hot with a win by fall to kick off her 2-0 day.
Freshman 160-pounder
Chase Marie Ryan (Quakertown, Pa.) won her fourth straight match by way of bonus points in her 12-1 tech fall win and sophomore 180-pounder
Trinity Barrus (Hysham, Mont.) earned her second fall of the season in just 25 seconds to supply the Bison's last two victories against Liberty.
Against the WildCats, the Bison fell in each of their first three matches falling to an early 11-2 deficit, but not before
Busch's second fall of the day got Bethany right back into the dual.
Dodd then cut the Randolph lead to one after a big first period led to her second tech fall of the day.
After having the the Liberty dual off due to a Flames forfeit, freshman
Ari Tyson (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) wasted no time pinning Randolph's Anella Fabriziani in the 138 match and gave the Green and White a 16-12 lead with four matches left.
The WildCats went on to win three of the last four matches by fall to cap off a nail-biting team match with
Craddock's second period fall serving as the last Bison victory of the day.Â
The Bison are back in action on Monday, November 10 as they travel to Rio Grande, Ohio to compete in the Rio Grande Tri-Match against the host Rio Grande (Ohio) College and Midway (Ky.) College at 7 p.m. inside Newt Oliver Arena.
