Game Recap: Women's Wrestling |

Barrus Hat-tricks for the Season

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OHIO - The Bethany College Women's Wrestling team jumped right back into the action after a few weeks off from competition. A group of Bison traveled to the John Carrol Open to compete against Division III, Division II, and NAIA competition in a traditional tournament.

Bethany's 160 pound entry Trinity Barrus came away with a title. The freshman dominated her way to a chip, pinning three consecutive opponents in the first period. Barrus' longest match of the day was 1:19 in the semi-finals. She did not give up a single point in any of her matches.

The Bison had four other placewinners in the open.

Shanielah Kirk finished as the silver medalist in the 180 pound weight class. She grinded out a tight decision victory in the semis in what could be considered a rivalry. Kirk avenged her two losses against her Mount Union opponent in time for regional seeding.

Sophie Diaz also placed in the 180 pound weight class. She was on the opposite side of Kirk, finishing 7th.

145 Jami Craddock wrestled the most matches on the team. After winning her first match, Craddock fell to the champ in the semis. She fought back through consolation, earning herself a fourth place finish.

Angelina Watson was winning both of her matches that she lost. However, she got caught late to force her to fight back in consolations for a spot on the podium. Watson finished strong, teching her final opponent 12-2 to earn a 7th place finish.

Bethany will have one more competition before regionals. The Bison will travel to Mount Union for a dual meet Thursday. Match is set to start at 6 p.m.
