The Bethany men's lacrosse team got off to a fast start and great finish in recording their first win of the season, beating Anderson, 19-11, Sunday in non-conference action at Bison Stadium.
While six different players scored goals, the duo of senior Cameron Russo and sophomore Ruddy Sampson was responsible for 16 points – eight goals and eight assists. Each scored four goals with Russo dishing out a career-high five assists and Sampson three assists.
Five different Bison tallied a goal as Bethany raced out to a 5-0 lead, two of the goals coming in a power play situation. The Bison had a 7-2 lead as six players scored at the end of the first period. Following back-to-back goals from senior Tyler Britton, the Bethany lead was 10-4 with 10 minutes remaining.
Anderson turned the momentum of the game by scoring five of the next six goals and trailed by just two goals early in the third period.
Teamwork was the key to Bethany putting the Ravens away as BC scored eight goals with seven assists. Bethany ended the game with eight of the last 10 goals.
Sophomore Ethyn Taylor also finished with four goals, and he added an assist.
Bethany (1-4 overall, 0-1 PAC) returns to Bison Stadium 7 p.m. Wednesday, hosting future PAC foe Hiram.
