T&F: Two Break Records, Three More Nationally Ranked

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The Bethany College track and field team competed in the Tim Weaver Invite. Four Bison posted Division III top 25 results, with the 4x100 team posting a top 10 time.

Two school records were broken in the process. Koda Moore broke the hammer throw record throwing 34.01 meters. Caliyph McClinton broke the 200m record finishing third and running a 21.84.

McClinton was one of the first to slide into the top 25 with his 200m time, but threw his name into the hat again as a part of the 4x100 relay team.

McClinton joined teammates Shavel Lesley, Charlibot Marcelin, and Tsi Fofang to post a top 10 NCAA DIII time. They combined for a 41.46 to finish second in the invite and be unofficially ranked seventh in the country.

Fofang made waves in his individual event, running a PR in the 100m dash. His 11.01 earned him a runner up finish and a top 50 DIII time. He was the fifth Bison to be ranked today.

There were two field athletes that posted results that cracked that top 25 DIII threshold.

The first was Alexis Mahaffey. Continuing her success from the indoor season where she won a Presidents Athletic Conference title, Mahaffey had a new top 10 toss throwing 46.35 meters. She cleared that coveted 150 feet mark landing at 152 flat to be the Tim Weaver runner up.

Dave Rene made waves for the men's field events. Rene was the runner up in the long jump leaping 6.78 meters. That leap ranked him 19th in the country at the time.

The Bison will attempt to improve next week at Vertklasse 2025. It will be a two day event beginning Friday.
