SB: Huey Sets Career Doubles Record

LATROBE, Pa. - The Bethany College softball team suffered its first sweep of the season, dropping a pair of games to Saint Vincent.

GAME ONE: SAINT VINCENT 4, BETHANY 3

Freshman Olivia Kidd and sophomore Emma Jackson combined to hit 5-for-7 with two doubles, two runs scored, and two RBI, but the Bison fell in the opener.

After Saint Vincent took the lead with a run in the bottom of the second, an RBI double by Emma Jackson knotted the score. The Bearcats reclaimed the lead in the third and added two more runs in the fourth.

Bethany scored twice in the fifth, on an RBI single by Kidd and an error following a double by Jackson. However, the tying run was stranded on third base.

Graduate Morgan Huey added two hits, including her school record 52 career double. The double was also her 200th career hit.

Graduate Josie Wise (13-5) allowed four runs on six hits over 3.2 innings.

GAME TWO: SAINT VINCENT 7, BETHANY 4

Saint Vincent scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to reclaim the lead en route to securing the sweep.

Bethany took the lead with a pair of runs in the second inning on a double by senior Haley Eyler, but the Bearcats promptly responded with four runs in the bottom half of the frame.

Freshman Bella Jouzapaitis singled home a run in the fourth inning, but the tying run was thrown out at the plate. Kidd singled home the tying run in the sixth, however, the would-be go-ahead run was thrown out at the plate later in the inning – setting up for the Bearcats' aforementioned game-sealing inning.

Junior Brooke Markland was the lone Bison with multiple hits, going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Sophomore Victoria Wehrberger (3-2) allowed three runs on three hits in 4.2 innings of relief.

Bethany (22-9, 8-7 PAC) steps away from PAC action 3:30 p.m. Monday, traveling to Marietta for a non-conference doubleheader.
