Marc Hull Named First Head Coach of the Women's Flag Football Program

8/15/2025 4:00:00 PM

BETHANY, W.Va. - Bethany College Director of Athletics Jen Windmiller '23, is excited to announce Marc Hull as the first head coach of the emerging women's flag football coach program ahead of their second club season in 2025-26.

Hull will take over the Bison women's flag football team, which was added as a club sport in the spring of 2025. Following the inaugural season, the team will compete in another full club season this year and will eventually transition to full intercollegiate status with an anticipated launch for the Spring 2027 season. Along with leading the women's flag football team, Hull will also be a member of the Bison's football coaching staff as co-special teams coordinator and running backs coach.

"We're thrilled to welcome Marc Hull as our women's flag football coach," says Windmiller. "His energy and vision will help us grow an emerging NCAA sport for female student-athletes. We are excited to showcase this sport with our community and continue to build something special at Bethany."

Flag football is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, with at least 65 NCAA schools sponsoring programs at either the club or varsity level this year, with more slated to join in 2026. The sport is also gaining global momentum, having been added to the lineup for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

Hull brings an abundance of professional and collegiate coaching experience to the women's flag football and football teams. Prior to Bethany, he served as the special teams coordinator and safeties coach at Valparaiso (Ind.) University in 2024. Hull was also the special teams coordinator and linebackers coach for the United States Football League's Pittsburgh Maulers, where he helped lead the team to a USFL North Division title, as well as an appearance in the 2023 USFL Championship Game.

From 2015-21, Hull helped lead Slippery Rock University to two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships and four NCAA Division II Tournament appearances as the team's special teams coordinator and linebackers coach. The Rock also reached the DII National Quarterfinals in 2018 and the DII National Semifinals in 2019 under Hull's guidance. He began his coaching career at West Los Angeles College in 2010, was then hired as an outside linebackers coach at Kentucky Christian University in 2012, and was a graduate assistant coach for Shippensburg University from 2013-14, where he coached the Raider secondary.

Hull is a 2008 graduate of San Diego State University, where he received his bachelor's degree in social science and was also a four-year letterman as linebacker for the Aztec football team. He earned his master's degree in organizational development and leadership from Shippensburg in 2014.
