BETHANY, W.Va. - The Bethany College women's wrestling team defeated Waynesburg (Pa.) University by a final score of 48-2 in a non-conference dual on Joe Kurey Memorial Court inside Hummel Fieldhouse.
Bethany (15-5) closed the 2025-26 home season against Waynesburg (1-10) where the Green and White nearly shutout the Yellow Jackets in front of the home crowd. The Bison were gifted an early 10-0 lead thanks to two Yellow Jacket forfeits.
Freshman
Taelor Rae Busch (Omaha, Neb./Mercy) got the first Bethany victory with a quick pin only a minute in to the first period at 117.Â
The Bison then earned back-to-back tech falls thanks to freshman 124-pounder
Malia Tocco (Philo, Calif./Mendocino) and 131-pounder
Rose Mary Dodd (Lake Elsinore, Calif./Temescal Canyon) by scores of 14-4 and 11-1, respectively.Â
Freshman
Ari Tyson (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) secured a pin at 145 with 1:42 left in the first period following another Waynesburg forfeit to put the Bison up 32-2.
After performing the National Anthem, sophomore
Shanielah Kirk (Milwaukee, Wis./Martin Luther) controlled the 160-match with yet another pin in just under a minute.
No. 15 nationally ranked sophomore
Trinity Barrus (Hysham, Mont.) got the quickest stick of the day with a 27-second pin against Waynesburg's 180-pounder.Â
Freshman
MyJanniea Baptist (Los Angeles, Calif./Lawndale) rounded out the team score in the Bison's dominant outing with another win by fall in the 207-pound bout.Â
Following the Bison victory, freshmen
Natalie Rodriguez-Romero (Perris, Calif./Citrus Hill) and
Zeus Bourassa (Sioux City, Iowa/Sioux City East) also won by pin in each of their exhibition matches.Â
The Bison are back in action on Sunday, February 1 as they travel to University Heights, Ohio to compete at the John
