UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - The Bethany College women's wrestling team opened the 2026-27 season at the JCU Round Robin hosted by John Carroll (Ohio) University at the Tony DeCarlo Center.
The Bison opened the 2026-27 campaign at the JCU Round Robin where they matched the host Blue Streaks' 16 competing wrestlers and faced off against seven other teams. Although the tournament was unscored, Bethany was the team to beat after placing three champions, three runners-up, and four bronze medalists across 21 divisions.
Taking home championships in their respective brackets were sophomore 131-pounder
Rose Mary Dodd (Lake Elsinore, Calif./Temescal Canyon), freshman 124-pounder
Sandy Evans (Escatawpa, Miss./East Central), and freshman 160-pounder
Emily McCormack (Windermere, Fla.).
Dodd opened the day with a 12-2 tech fall in the first round of pool competition in the 131 Gold division. She followed that up with another tech fall by a score of 10-0 to send her straight to the first-place match.
Dodd finished the day 3-for-3 with a 12-1 tech fall against Edinboro's Jojo Dollman to take Bethany's first gold of the day.
Evans only needed to win two in the 124 Women's Blue Division as the bracket was comprised of two other wrestlers. Her two victories by fall in the second and third rounds secured another first-place finish for the Bison.
In the 160 Blue bracket,
McCormack went 3-0 in the four-wrestler field. She also opened with a 10-0 victory by tech fall followed by a 37-second pin in Round 2 and a two-minute victory by fall in the final round to take first in her first collegiate tournament.
Three members of the Green and White took home second place including sophomore
Abbrionica Kerregan (Mason, Ohio/William Mason), freshman
Myshawna Tinsley (Cincinnati, Ohio/Finneytown), and freshman
Alexandra Neuberger (Ewing, N.J.).
Kerregan won the 110 Gold Division's first round by fall and, despite falling in the second round, finished second among the four-person round robin.
Tinsley had to face off in pool play in the 117 Blue bracket in her first career competition. She notched two pins to send her to the finals where she fell in a close battle for the division title.
