PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Bethany College men's lacrosse team defeated La Roche (Pa.) University by a final score of 13-0 in a non-conference game at the Baierl Athletic Complex.
Bethany (1-6) picked up their first victory of the season with a shutout victory over La Roche (0-4) marking the program's first shutout since the 2024 season. The Bison forced a season-high 13 turnovers and only allowed one Redhawk shot on goal to wrap up the non-conference portion of the schedule in dominant fashion.
Bethany Leaders
- Senior attack Justice Smith (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) scored a career-high six goals on 16 shots and added an assist for seven points along with his three ground balls
- Junior midfielder Abdul Lowe (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) went 13-for-16 on face-offs while also picking up four ground balls
- Sophomore midfielder Corrie Miller (Etters, Pa./Red Lands) only needed four shots to score a season-high three times while also recording an assist and a ground ball
- Freshman midfielder Levi Connally (Prince George's County, Md./Frederick Douglass) continues to lead the Bethany defense with seven ground balls and one CTO
- Freshman attack Braden Jones (Essex, Md./Kenwood) recorded his first career multi-goal game with two goals, an assist, and two ground balls
- Sophomore midfielder Logan Mills (Barrie North, Ontario/Eastview Secondary School) led the team with a career-best four caused turnovers resulting in four ground balls
- Junior defender/long-stick midfielder Griffen Carpenter (Stow, Ohio) finished with a statline of one goal, one assist, and three ground balls
- Junior All-PAC defender Matthew Rees (Butler, Pa./Butler Area) added five ground balls and another Bison caused turnover
- Freshman midfielder Romeo Grullon (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) was the last Bison to notch a goal and had two ground balls and one caused turnover
- Sophomore Academic All-PAC midfielder Chance Funari (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park) forced three turnovers and scooped up four ground balls
- Freshman goalkeeper Darwin Ruiz (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) made his first career start where he made one save and got the win as he and sophomore goalkeeper Owen Livengood (York, Pa./York Suburban) combined on their first career shutout
La Roche Leaders
- Sophomore midfielder Hunter Augustine led the team with six ground balls and four face-off victories
- Freshman midfielder Goran Miloradovic took a team-high four shots with one on goal
- Sophomore goalkeeper Calvin Rowland made 16 saves for the Redhawks
The Bison are back in action on Wednesday, March 25 as they host the Mental Health Awareness Game and a Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup against Thiel (Pa.) College at 7 p.m. on Don Ault Field at Bison Stadium.
