WASHINGTON, Pa. - The fourth-seeded Bethany College baseball team fell to second-seeded Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament winners' bracket by a final score of 10-1 at Ross Memorial Park.
Bethany entered the day as one of three undefeated teams remaining in the tournament and was paired up with the host Washington & Jefferson in the second round. The Presidents scored four runs in the first but the Bison had something brewing in the third. However, the Green and White could only scratch off one run as W&J added to their lead and advanced to the final game of the winners' bracket while Bethany looks to stay alive in an elimination game against Grove City.

- Bottom 3rd - Junior Academic All-PAC third baseman Gian DeGenova (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park) continued his big tournament with an RBI single to cut into the Presidents' lead
At the Plate
- Sophomore center fielder Niko Heidt (San Diego, Calif./Monte Vista) finished the night with a 3-for-5 performance and scored the Bison's only run of the night
- Senior All-PAC second baseman Jaden Nestor-Fox (Vermilion, Ohio) and sophomore right-hander Marco Gonzalez (Oviedo, Fla.) each added a base hit for the Green and White
- Senior left fielder Devin Toothman (East Liverpool, Ohio) was hit by a pitch and then stole second to set the Bethany baseball single-season steals record
- DeGenova recorded one hit and one RBI
On the Mound
- Gonzalez finished strong as he pitched six innings and struck out five after allowing seven runs on six hits
- Sophomore right-hander Billy Sloan (North Jackson, Ohio/Jackson-Milton) pitched the seventh and eighth where he faced nine batters and allowed one run
- Junior left-hander Tristan Simrau (Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City West) surrendered two runs in the top of the ninth on three hits
The Bison are back in action Friday, May 8 as they continue the Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament by taking on fifth-seeded Grove City (Pa.) College in an elimination game at 11 a.m. at Ross Memorial Park.
