Finlan earned his first career win in the first game of his coaching career at Bethany. It was a dramatic 5-3 walk-off home run against Pitt-Bradford (2/25/24).
Finlan coached three All-PAC selections in his first season at Bethany.

Came to Bethany from DIII Spalding, where he was the pitching coach leading the staff to 363 strikeouts and a 3.60 ERA
During his one season at Spalding, Finlan helped coach the Golden Eagles to a 35-12 overall record, the program's first conference championship and first NCAA Tournament berth.
Spent two seasons with Wheeling University starting in 2021.
In 2022, Finlan aided the Cardinals to one of their best offensive seasons in school history: Set a new program record for doubles (96), triples (20), and home runs (37).
In 2021, Finlan led a pitching staff that included three All-Conference Honorees. As a unit, his staff had an impressive 1.74 WHIP, striking out 251.
Spent three seasons (2018-20) at Glenville State. In addition to his duties as pitching coach, he oversaw the strength and condition program for the baseball team.
Served as a graduate assistant coach with Ohio Valley University.

Finlan pitched two seasons at perennial-power Marietta. He made 14 starts and finished his Pioneer career with a record of 6-5 on the bump.
