A 41 year veteran of coaching football, Greg Gigantino will enter his second season as the defensive line coach at Bethany in 2020.
Gigantino arrived in the northern panhandle after spending a season at Mater Dei Prep in Middletown, NJ. During that time, Gigantino worked primarily with the linebackers and led the team to a 10-2 record and runner ups at the state championship.
Prior to Mater Dei Prep, Gigantino spent ten years at Bryant University as the Defensive Coordinator. Gigantino coached the NEC conference all-time sack leader and defensive player of the year, Jeff Covitz in 2014. The Bulldogs finished as the top defense in Bryant football history in 2013. In the first year that Bryant was in the NEC, Gigantino’s defense led the conference in scoring defense.
Gigantino spent a total of 12 seasons at Hofstra University (‘90-’98 and ’01-‘05). During his first tenure at Hofstra, the defense ranked in the top 10 in multiple national ranking categories including an overall national ranking in 1994 and 1997. He also spent two years at Cornell University bringing the Big Red back into playoff contention. Gigantino spent time at Lehigh University, Davidson College, Iona College, and Rutgers University throughout the early parts of his coaching career.
Gigantino began coaching at Indiana University of PA graduate assistant coaching receivers and tight ends. He graduated from Wagner College with his bachelor’s in Education.
