A six-year veteran of coaching at the collegiate level, Tyler Williams will enter his third season as the defensive line coach at Bethany in 2019.

In 2018, the Bison defensive linemen were once again, one of only three teams to feature multiple players among the top-10 in the PAC in sacks in 2018. The Bison led the PAC landing three athletes in the top-10 for sacks and held a total of five athletes in the top-20 in the PAC. Defensive linemen Chas Blango and Nate Daniels finished second in the PAC with 0.80 sacks a game while Daniel Gibson rounded out the top-10 with 0.50 sacks per game. The green and white finished third in the PAC with a total of 32 sacks.

The Bison were one of only three teams to feature multiple players among the top-10 in the PAC in sacks in 2017. Defensive end Khallid Pierce led the PAC with nine solo sacks and ranked third in the league with 16.0 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles, before being named a First-Team All-PAC and Second-Team All-ECAC selection. Williams' defensive front unit also featured defensive end Chas Blango, who ranked ninth in the PAC with 4.5 sacks and tied for sixth with a pair of forced fumbles.

Williams arrived in the northern panhandle after spending the 2016 season as the defensive line coach at Ithaca College under legendary Head Coach Mike Welch. The Bombers had one of the top defensive units in the Empire 8, holding opponents to a league-best 19.7 points per game. Ithaca’s defense ranked second in the Empire 8 in yards against and Williams’ unit played a big role in the Bombers limiting opponents to only 106.5 rushing yards per game, the second-lowest total in the league.

Prior to Ithaca, Williams spent two seasons coaching defensive ends at Plymouth State University from 2014-15 and served as a quality control assistant at Division I FCS Eastern Kentucky University in 2013.

He played collegiately at perennial NAIA-power Georgetown College (Ky.), where he was a member of two-consecutive undefeated regular seasons, including the 2011 Tiger squad that went 12-1 and reached the NAIA Playoff Semifinals.

Williams attended Scott County High School in Georgetown, Kentucky where he was a four-year member of the football team and helped lead his team to an 11-2 record and region final appearance during his senior year.

Williams received a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Georgetown in 2013.
