Oct. 12- GROVE CITY, Pa.- Freshman Callum Appleby (Maidstone, United Kingdom/ Maidstone Grammar School) totaled seven saves but the Bethany College men's soccer team fell, 4-0, to Grove City in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match on Saturday afternoon at College Field.
Appleby's seven saves were the second most in a single game for the Bison this season.
Freshman Lamine Balde (Guinea, West Africa/William L. Sayre) registered three shots to lead the Bison.
Brenden Alfery earned his first win for the Wolverines as he made four saves on the afternoon.
Kyle Matherne scored the game's first goal for Grove City as he scored on a corner kick in the 12th minute.
Grove City outshot Bethany 12-5 in the first half but couldn't manage to get the ball past Appleby, and the Wolverines would take a 1-0 lead into the locker room.
The Wolverines added three more goals in the second half and would take the game 4-0.
Bethany returns to action on Wednesday afternoon when it hosts Waynesburg at 4:30 p.m. at Hoag Field.
