Oct. 5- BETHANY, W.Va.- The Bethany College men's soccer team fell, 3-0, to Thomas More in its Presidents' Athletic Conference opener on Saturday afternoon at Hoag Field.
The game had to be delayed for 45 minutes at the 68:07 mark because of lightning.
Matt Keese earned his eighth victory of the season as he made one save on the afternoon.
Freshman Callum Appleby (Maidstone, United Kingdom/ Maidstone Grammar School) was great in net for the Bison as he recorded four saves in the game.
Jake Plummer put the Saints on the scoreboard with the first of his two penalty kicks in the 13th minute.
Plummer was at it again it again in the 23rd minute as he converted a second penalty kick to give the Saints a 2-0 lead.
Appleby recorded two saves in the first half, as the Saints took a 2-0 lead into the halftime break.
Jonah Ritter received a pass from Austin Juniet inside the eighteen yard box and fired a one-touch shot past Appleby to give the Saints a 3-0 lead.
Sophomore Cody McElhaney (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) put a shot on net that was very close to going in, but it went just high in the 79th minute and the Saints would go on for the 3-0 victory.
Bethany returns to action on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to New Wilmington, Pa. to face Westminster with kickoff scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
