Nov. 1 – BETHANY, W.Va. – The Bethany College men's soccer team fell to Geneva College, 1-0, in their season finale on Saturday afternoon.
The first half saw the game's only goal, as Zach Lehman found the back of the net in the 23rd minute of action.
Leading the way for the Bison offense were sophomore Jack Waters (Epsom, United Kingdom/Glyn School) and freshman Ryan Power (Sydney, Australia/Lisarow). The two combined for two shots with one coming on frame. Freshman Cihan Gunduz (Istanbul, Turkey) also registered a shot in the match.
Freshman goalkeeper Richard Martinez (Miami, Fla./Southdade Senior) played well in defeat, recording four saves on 20 Golden Tornado shots.
The game also marked the final contest for seniors Nick Turner (Huntington, W.Va./St. Joseph Central Catholic), Neil Verley (Waldorf, Md./North Point), Tyler Pannebaker (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon), Casey Clements (Hopewell,Pa./Hopewell) and Cody McElhaney (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell).
With the defeat, the Bison finish the season with a record of 2-15 and 1-7 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
