Bison Women's Hoops Falls to Saint Vincent

Dec. 3 – BETHANY, W.Va. – Despite having four different players score in double figures, the Bethany College women's basketball team (3-3, 0-1 PAC) was defeated by Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Saint Vincent College, 99-71 on Wednesday evening.

The Bearcats jumped out to an early 10-point lead (19-9) over the first seven minutes action. The run was capped off by a three-point make from Drew Meeker.

Bethany would battle back, going on a 6-4 run to trim the deficit to just eight points (23-15) with 12:05 reaming in the first stanza. Sophomore guard Lauren Simpson (Washington, Pa./Trinity) and junior forward Gabrielle Naples (Salem, Ohio/South Range) supplied a 3-pointer each.

Sophomore guard Hayley Holenka (Shadyside, Ohio/Shadyside) led the Bison in the first frame, scoring 13 points and adding five rebounds. Freshmen forward Kelsea Daugherty (Newport, Ohio/Frontier) also showed well, notching seven points and three boards.

The second half was more of the same, as Saint Vincent went on to capture the win.

Leading the way for the Green & White was Holenka and Daugherty. Holenka finished with a game-high 23 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field. She also added seven rebounds and two assists. Daugherty continued her hot start to the season, scoring in double figures for the second consecutive contest. She ended the game with 16 points, five rebounds, three steals and three assists.
