Bison Men's Soccer Drops 2-1 Decision to Muskingum

Sept. 23 - NEW CONCORD, Ohio - The Bethany College men's soccer team couldn't hold a 1-0 halftime advantage, as the Bison dropped a 2-1 decision to Muskingum University on Tuesday evening.

The Bison got on the board first in the 32nd minute when freshman Alex Hannah (Weirton, W. Va./Weir) found the back of the net for his first-career goal. Sophomore Sanjay Joshi (Fullerton, Calif./Troy) made a good cross into the box and Hannah put one touch on the ball, beating the Muskie keeper to give the Bison a 1-0 advantage. Bethany would go into the locker room leading by the same score.

In the second half, it took just five minutes for Muskingum to find the equalizer, as Muskie freshman Trent Newly used a pass from Austin Mills to beat the Bison keeper and tie the game at 1-1. 11 minutes later, Newly gave Muskingum the lead, notching a goal from the box to give the Muskies the 2-1 advantage. The Bison would go on to fall by the same score.

Offensively for the Bison, the Green & White were led by Hannah and Joshi who finished with two points and one point, respectively. As a team, the Bison totaled 13 shots and led Muskingum in corner kicks, 5-4.

Bethany will be back in action on Wednesday, October 1 when they travel to New Kensington, Pa. to take on Penn State - New Kensington. The contest is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
