Sept. 30 - GROVE CITY, Pa. - The Bethany College volleyball team (11-6, 5-1 PAC) used a solid team effort to defeat Grove City, 3-1, on Tuesday evening.
The Bison took the match by taking games one and two by scores of 25-19 and 25-10, respectively. After dropping game three by a 28-26 score, Bethany finished off the Wolverines with a 26-24 win in game four.
Offensively, the Bison were led by Dakota McKenzie (Hopewell, Ohio/West Myskingum) who totaled 15 kills in the win. The Green & White also received solid play from their middle hitters as Alexis Castro (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain) and Arielle Sanders (Maple Heights, Ohio/Maple Heights) combined for 14 kills, eight block assists and one solo block.
Defensively, the Bison totaled 81 digs led by libero Julia Mouch's (Toledo, Ohio/Sylvania Southview) 19. Kelly Becquet (Finleyville, Pa./Ringgold) totaled 13 digs while Mackenzie Lauber posted 11 to go along with 32 assists, her first double double of the year.
The Bison will be back in action on Thursday, October 2, when they return home for a bout with Geneva College. The contest is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
