Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Falls at Waynesburg

Jan. 10 – WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Bethany College men's basketball team dropped a Presidents' Athletic Conference decision, 96-64, to Waynesburg University on Saturday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets opened the game on a 10-5 run over the first four minutes of the half. The Bison would respond, needing just one minute to get right back into the contest. After back-to-back baskets by Delonte' Joyce (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) and Calique Jones (Pittsburgh, Pa./Obama Academy), Alan Harper (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Central Catholic) nailed a three-point basket, cutting the Waynesburg advantage to 13-12 with 15:02 to play. From there, however, the Yellow Jackets pulled away and the Bison found themselves down 57-31 at the half.

Jeff Joynes (Baltimore, Md./Poly) played well in the first half, scoring all 12 of his points in the first frame on 3-of-4 shooting from the field and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line.

The Bison played closer in the second half, as the Yellow Jackets held just a 39-33 advantage in the second frame. Jones scored eight points in the second half for the Bison, while Joyce scored six.

Jones made the most of his first-career start, tying a career high in points with 14. Joyce and Joynes also scored double figures for the Bison as they had 12, each.

The Bison will be back in action on Wednesday, January 14, as they travel to New Wilmington, Pa. to take on Westminster College. The game is scheduled for an 8 p.m. start.
