Bethany, W.Va – The Bethany College men's basketball opened up the season with a Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) contest against the Franciscan Barons inside Hummel Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon. The Barons had a strong second half to prevail past the Bison, 100-88. Senior Dalton Hamrick had a career-high 28 points.
GAME OVERVIEW
Franciscan opened up the game hot, building a nine point lead in the first eight minutes of play. The Bison went on a 9-0 run to knot the game at 24-24. The Green and White maintained the lead and led by as many as seven for the remainder of the first half. A three at the buzzer from the Barons cut the Bison lead to five heading into the break. The Bison led 54-49.
A late second half surge propelled the Barons over the Bison. The teams battled back and forth for the first five minutes. Franciscan evened the game at 60 with 15:00 minutes to go. The battle continued as both teams exchanged baskets and deadlocked at 74-74 with 8:00 minutes remaining. From that moment on the Barons took full control of the game, locking in a double digit win.
