New Concord, Ohio – The Bethany College women's basketball team opened up the 2021 season on the road against OAC opponent Muskingum University Fighting Muskies. The Muskies used a second half surge to propel past the Bison, 77-69.

GAME FLOW

• Freshman Ashleigh Wheeler scored the first two points of the 2021-22 season for the Bison on two free throws.
• Bethany's first four points were scored off of made free throws.
• The Bison scored the first 10 points in the game and led 12-2 before the Muskies scored with 6:17 to go in the first quarter.
• Bethany led 23-12 at the end of the first.
• Muskingum cut the lead to six, with six minutes to go in the second quarter, but Bethany gathered composure and took a 43-28 lead into the intermission.
• Muskingum scored 30 points in the third quarter to take the lead away from Bethany, leading 58-54 at the end of three.
• Bethany and Muskingum battled back and forth in the final quarter but the Muskies took the lead with under four minutes to go and held on for the win.

IN THE BOX SCORE

• Ashleigh Wheeler led the Bison with 18 points and four assists.
• Lindsey Garrison and Makenzee Mason each had 13 points each.
• Courtney Walker added 12 points.
• Mason and Walker led the Bison with six rebounds.
• Garrison led the Bison with three steals.
