BETHANY, W.Va. – The Bethany College women's basketball head coach Mikayla Lopez earned her first career win as a head coach in the Bison's 82-74 victory over Waynesburg University Saturday afternoon.
GAME FLOW
- Waynesburg held an early 3-2 lead after an Avery Robinson three-pointer. The lead was quickly taken away when senior Sophie Morey knotted the game at 3-3 and moments later, Bella Skobel made a layup giving the Bison a 5-3 lead.
- The Bison would pull ahead 14-3 and led 17-8 after the first stanza.
- In the second quarter, the Yellow Jackets scored the first seven points cutting the deficit to two, 17-15. The Bison strung together a few small runs to build the lead back up to 33-17. A layup and back-to-back three pointers by the Yellow Jackets cut the Bison lead to 35-25.
- Bethany led 37-31 heading into the halftime break.
- In the third the Yellow Jackets cut the deficit down to as close as four points in the third but the Bison continued to answer the Yellow Jackets threat.
- The Green and White led 61-50 after three quarters of play.
- Despite being outscored 24-21, the Bison were able to hang on for the victory.

- The Yellow Jackets held the slight rebounding advantage, 32-31.
- Bethany shot 32-for-61 (52.5%) from the field while Waynesburg shot 25-for-62 (40.3%) from the field.
