BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College men's basketball team fell to the Chatham University Cougars, 88-70 inside Hummel Field House Wednesday evening.
GAME FLOW
- Both teams went back and forth throughout the first half. After being tied at 18-18, the Cougars went on a run to extend their lead to double-digits, 31-21 with 7:22 to go. The Cougars led by as many as 14, but the Bison cut the deficit to 11 with under a minute to go in the half.
- Bethany trailed 43-32 at the half.
- Will Brooks started the second half with a three-pointer cutting the Cougars' lead to single-digits. However, the Cougars would go on a run to go ahead by as many as 17. Bethany would chip away at the deficit. With 12:24 to go, Chance Wells hit a jumper to cut the lead to eight. Minutes later after exchanging baskets, the Bison would come within seven after Tony Fox hit a jumper.
- Unfortunately for the Bison, the Cougars would end up extending their lead back to double-digits and hold a commanding lead for the remainder of the game.
IN THE BOX SCORE
- Freshman Will Brooks led the Bison with 18 points, shooting 8-for-11 from the field. He made two of three from behind the arc.
- Tony Fox had a double-double, chipping in 16 points and pulling down 13 rebounds.
- Colin Meany chipped in 11 points followed by Chance Wells with 10.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Chatham hit 11-of-25 from behind the arc, while Bethany had six made three pointers.
- The Cougars edged the Bison in field goal percentage, 49.2% to 41.5%.
- The Bison were outrebounded, 38-36.
