SANDUSKY, Ohio – Bethany College women's volleyball team split on the final day of the Great Lakes Crossover hosted at Cedar Point Sports Complex. Bethany earned the 3-1 win over Trine but fell to Ohio Northern, 3-2 in the second match.

THE MATCHUP

• Bethany 3, Trine 1 (20-25, 25-17, 25-15, 26-24)
• Ohio Northern 3, Bethany 2 (25-16, 17-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-10)

HOW IT HAPPENED (MATCH ONE)

Trine handed Bethany a 25-20 set one loss to open the match. The Bison stormed back to win the next three sets to take the match from the Thunder.

HOW IT HAPPENED (MATCH TWO)

Despite dropping the first set of the match to Ohio Northern, Bethany battled back to take a 2-1 lead by winning the next two sets. In the third set, it was a battle between the Bison and Polar Bears in the final two sets with ONU coming out on top.

MATCH NOTES

• In match one, the Bison were led by three Bison who posted 10+ kills. Olivia Koehler led the Bison with 17 kills while Sydney Kirker added 14 and Emma Marthins had 10. Asia Crim led the Bison with 16 digs and five service aces. Alaina Torres registered 43 assist. As a unit, the Bison hit .314.
• In the second match against ONU, Bethany was led by Olivia Koehler with a double-double with 16 kills and 11 digs. Emma Marthins added 15 kills followed by Destiny Goodnight with 10. Asia Crim led the defense with 24 digs. Anna Taylor added 13 digs and Alaina Torres had 14. Torres led the Bison with 48 assists.

WHAT'S NEXT?  

The Bison return to the court on Friday, Sept. 8 when they compete in the Pam Briggs Classic. Bethany will face Capital at 6 pm. On Saturday, the Bison will face Otterbein and Hanover at 10 am and 12 pm.
