MSOC Holds #1 Team in PAC Scoreless

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Bethany Bison were in a defensive slugfest against the undefeated Geneva College Golden Tornadoes. Despite getting outshot 10-1 in the second half, the Bison held onto a 0-0 draw.

Bethany only had four shots the entire game, but none were on goal. Samuel Bedoya had a prime chance to score being center goal in the box, but launched his shot high over the goal. The only shot of the second half was a blocked shot in the 83rd minute.

The highlight of the game was the Bison defense, who held a team that was averaging just under two goals a game (1.92) scoreless.

Matteo Pintus posted a shutout in the net. He collected five saves. Pintus set the tone early, saving two shots within 10 minutes. That gave the Bison defensive confidence that kept them riding high for the rest of the game.

Bethany played physical, trading fouls for the ability to reset on defense. They doubled Geneva's fouls (18-9), but it worked in their favor. It prevented the Golden Tornadoes from being able to catch the Bison off guard.

On a night where defensive Captain Santiago Bruni was named homecoming king, he led the Bison to a shutout draw against the top team in the Presidents Athletic Conference.

Bethany (0-10-2) will have a week off before resuming PAC play against the Allegheny Gators (2-9-3). The Bison will be home at Hoag for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.
