Playing without two key senior starters on the defensive end, the Bethany College men's soccer team earned a point with the 1-1 draw with Westminster Saturday on Hoag Field in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.
Converted midfielder Defrante Braithwaite, who made his first appearance in goal on an emergency status Wednesday, made his first ever start between the pipes. Much like Wednesday, he was spectacular for the Bison. Braithwaite finished the game with six saves on seven shots. Over his 123 minutes in goal this week, he allowed one goal on 16 shots as Bethany went 1-0-1 in a pair of games.
Bethany took the early lead when junior Pablo Aguilera found the back of the net in the game's ninth minute. It was his first goal of the season with Samual Bedoyo earning the assist.
Westminster netted the equalizer in the 49th minute.
Bethany (1-11-3 overall, 1-5-3 PAC) wraps up the season 7:30 p.m. Wednesday with a road game at Thiel.
