Aguilera's Second Half Brace Lifts Men's Soccer Over Chatham

BETHANY, W.Va. - The Bethany College men's soccer team won against Chatham (Pa.) University by a final score of 3-2 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game at Hoag Field.  

Bethany (2-5-3, 1-2-1 PAC) scored the first goal during the first half while courageously keeping the ball rolling, and by halftime the Bison were still in the lead by a score of 1-0. In the second half, both teams were going head-to-head on both defense and offense when Chatham (2-7-3, 0-2-2 PAC) tied the game 2-2 until the Bison broke the tie in the final three minutes ending the game 3-2.  

Bethany Leaders 

  •  Senior midfielder Pablo Aguilera (Madrid, Spain/Colegio Brains) made two out of three Bison goals
  • Freshman Academic All-PAC midfielder Alessio De Pippo (Conroe, Texas/The Woodlands College Park) helped with an assist and took three shots
  • Senior forward Ian Stempler (Buenos Aires, Argentina/ Farmingdale College) was the first to score for the Bison to put them in the lead
  • Junior goalkeeper Adam Imhulse (Cincinnati, Ohio/Finneytown) in total made two saves on the day

Chatham Leaders 

  • Josiah Lewis - scored one of these two goals this game. With also 3 shots two goals 
  • Domenic Mannario - made one of these two scores this game.  
  • Justin Teufel - made four saves in today's game  

First Half (Bethany 1-0) 

  •  15:04 - Stempler got the scoring putting the Bison into the lead

Second Half (Bethany 3-2)  

  • 68:28 - Mannarino scored with the assist by Ronan Edris
  • 77:44 - Aguilera makes the go-ahead goal, no assist
  • 83:15 - Lewis makes the goal tying both teams 2-2
  • 87:05 - Aguilera makes the last goal assisted by De Pippo 

The Bison are back in action on October 7 as they travel to Steubenville, Ohio for a Presidents' Athletic Conference game against the Franciscan University of Steubenville (Ohio) at 5 p.m. at Trinity Health System Field.
