NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Bethany College men's golf junior
Samuel Phillips (Charleston, W.Va./Herbert Hoover) has been named the Presidents' Athletic Conference Men's Golf Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Phillips earns his first career weekly award after posting a career-best round of 70 (-2) at the Waynesburg Fall Invitational to finish second out of the 40-man field for his first career top-five finish. He also led the Bison to a second-place finish with a team score of 297 (+9) marking the lowest team score since the reinstatement of the golf program in 2017 shattering a record set earlier this season as the Green and White missed first place by only one stroke.
On the season,
Phillips has appeared in five tournaments with scores of 87, 83, 89, 77, and 70 for an 81.2 stroke average. In his Bethany career,
Phillips has appeared in 18 rounds through 15 tournaments where he has averaged 83 strokes per round.
The Bison are back in action on Sunday, October 12 through Tuesday, October 14 as they travel to Vienna, Ohio to compete at the 2025 Presidents' Athletic Conference Fall Championships at Squaw Creek-Avalon Golf & Country Club.
