BEXLEY, Ohio - The Bethany College women's basketball team fell to Capital (Ohio) University by a final score of 68-66 in a non-conference game in The Capital Center.
Bethany (2-3) Leaders
- Graduate All-PAC guard Lindsey Garrison (Triadelphia, W.Va./Wheeling Park) scored 21 points shooting 50% from the floor and drilling five three-pointers
- Sophomore Academic All-PAC guard Addy Blazer (Hanoverton, Ohio/Beaver Local) had a team-high nine rebounds with 13 points and a steal
- Senior Academic All-PAC forward Kaedlee Potter (Barboursville, W.Va./Cabell Midland) finished with a statline of 18 points, six rebounds, four assists, a steal, and a block
- Freshman guard Lindsey Best (Rayland, Ohio/Martins Ferry) tied a team-high four assists and added five points
- Junior Academic All-PAC forward Kate Botti (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) posted five boards and five points with three assists
Capital (4-0) Leaders
- Senior forward Samaree Perkins posted a 28-point, 15-rebound double-double while also sinking the game-winning free throws for the Comets
- Junior guard Kendall Spreen sank five threes for 15 points
- Sophomore guard Kya Jordan had a game-high five assists and six points
First Quarter (Bethany 23-8)
- After taking an early 7-5 lead, the Bison went on a 16-3 run to end the quarter
- Bethany shot 42.1% from the field including 4-for-9 from three
- Blazer grabbed six rebounds in part of the Bison's 16 boards
Second Quarter (Bethany 38-24)
- Garrison scored seven of her 11 first-half points with a pair of layups and a three
- Capital rattled off eight straight points to cut the deficit to 14 heading into the half
Third Quarter (Bethany 54-41)
- The Green and White owned the glass by a 10-6 margin including nine defensive rebounds
- The Capital defense forced eight turnovers to fuel their 17-point quarter
Fourth Quarter (Capital 68-66)
- Potter scored half of the Bison's points in the final frame including a clutch and-one to give the Bison a 10 point lead with 6:45 left to play
- A Comets three tied it up at 66 with a minute left in regulation while Perkins' free-throws with .1 second left gave Capital their first lead of the day
The Bison are back in action on Tuesday, November 25 as they host a non-conference game against Case Western Reserve (Ohio) University at 5:30 p.m. on Joe Kurey Memorial Court inside Hummel Fieldhouse.
