MARIETTA, Ohio - The Bethany College women's basketball team fell to Marietta (Ohio) by a final score of 82-67 in a non-conference game and the 2025-26 season opener in Ban Johnson Arena
Bethany (0-1) opened the 2025-26 campaign by taking on Marietta (1-0) in a battle of two defending postseason teams. The Bison struck first but after leading 4-3, it was all Pioneers for the remaining 37 minutes.
Bethany Leaders
- Senior Academic All-PAC forward Kaedlee Potter (Barboursville, W.Va./Cabell Midland) posted a team-best 19 points and seven rebounds while also recording three steals and three assists
- Freshman guard Lindsey Best (Rayland, Ohio/Martins Ferry) had a collegiate debut to remember with 15 points, four rebounds, and three assists
- Graduate All-PAC guard Lindsey Garrison (Triadelphia, W.Va./Wheeling Park) scored 11 points and led the team with four steals and four assists
- Junior Academic All-PAC forward Kate Botti (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) finished with seven rebounds, five assists, and four rebounds
- Junior guard Rylee Knight (Powhatan Point, Ohio/River) scored eight points in her first game as a Bison including a team-best two threes
Marietta Leaders
- Sophomore guard Kelsey Harlan had a game-high 23 points with four assists
- Junior guard Abby Garner grabbed a game-high nine rebounds
- Sophomore forward Amelia Uhrig tallied six steals and scored five points with four rebounds
First Quarter (Marietta 22-15)
- 8:58 - Potter makes a defensive rebound for a point scoring drive for Best assisted by Botti
- 7:25 - Potter drives in for a layup assisted by Blazer
- 0:15 - Best makes a free throw to make the score of the first quarter 15-22
Second Quarter (Marietta 44-31)
- 7:35 - Botti makes a two-point shot assisted by Garrison
- 5:01 - Garrison makes a layup assisted by Best
- 2:26 - Potter makes a free throw for her thirteenth point of the night
Third Quarter (Marietta 63-50)
- 6:49 - Best makes a layup assisted by Knight to make the game a ten-point difference
- 0:50 - Sophomore guard Ella Simpson (Morgantown, W.Va./University) laid in her first bucket in the Green and White
- The Bison forced seven turnovers which led to eight points in transition
Fourth Quarter (Marietta 82-67)
- The Green and White shot 50% from the field to Marietta's 43.8%
- Knight and sophomore guard Amaria Jones (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman) each drained a three to keep the Bison in the game
The Bison are back in action on Wednesday, November 12 as they host La Roche (Pa.) University in a non-conference match at 7 p.m. on Joe Kurey Memorial Court inside Hummel Fieldhouse.
