Women's Basketball Blows Out Heidelberg in Non-Conference Action

BETHANY, W.Va. - The Bethany College women's basketball team defeated Heidelberg (Ohio) University by a final score of 82-56 in a non-conference game on Joe Kurey Memorial Court at Hummel Fieldhouse.

Bethany (4-5) Leaders
  • Graduate All-PAC guard Lindsey Garrison (Triadelphia, W.Va./Wheeling Park) led the Bison in scoring with 19 points, in assists with five, and in steals with four 
  • Sophomore Academic All-PAC guard Addy Blazer (Hanoverton, Ohio/Beaver Local) finished with a statline of 11 points, seven rebounds, four steals, and a block
  • Sophomore guard Ella Simpson (Morgantown, W.Va./University) reached double figures in her third straight game with 13 points and added four steals
  • Freshman guard Lindsey Best (Rayland, Ohio/Martins Ferry) added 11 points with two threes, three steals, and two assists
  • Senior Academic All-PAC forward Kaedlee Potter (Barboursville, W.Va./Cabell Midland) and junior Academic All-PAC forward Kate Botti (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) recorded six rebounds and five rebounds, respectively
Heidelberg (1-8) Leaders
  • Freshman forward Brenna Williams double-doubled with a game-high 22 points and 14 rebounds
  • Freshman guard Olivia Nolting contributed 13 points for the Student Princes
  • Freshman guard Malia Mizeres grabbed 10 rebounds while leading the team in assists with three, in steals with three, and in blocks with two
First Quarter (Bethany 24-13)
  • Heidelberg struck first, but the Green and White scored 16 unanswered over the next four minutes
  • The Bison forced 13 turnovers with nine steals as Best, Garrison, and Simpson each recorded two
Second Quarter (Bethany 46-25)
  • Sophomore guard Shaelyn Anthony (Surprise, Ariz./Shadow Ridge) closed out the first half by scoring all nine of her points 
  • Bethany outscored the Student Princes 18-4 in the paint
Third Quarter (Bethany 64-37)
  • Garrison drilled two threes and added a layup for eight of her 19 points on the night
  • Blazer led the Bison on the glass by grabbing three of the team's 10 rebounds
Fourth Quarter (Bethany 82-56)
  • Sophomore guard Asia Sparrow (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill Academy) scored her first collegiate bucket with a pull-up jumper
  • Sophomore guard Cayleigh Dupler (Buchtel, Ohio/Nelsonville-York), sophomore guard Gabby Parke (Buckhannon, W.Va./Buckhannon-Upshur), and freshman forward Kendra Nazelrod (Terra Alta, W.Va./Preston) each made their Green and White debut 
The Bison are back in action on Monday, December 29 as they travel to Fayetteville, North Carolina to take on Methodist (N.C.) University in a non-conference game at 2 p.m. in the Riddle Center.
