ERIE, Pa. – The Bethany Bison finished a three match weekend today in Erie, Pennsylvania. They took on PSU-Behrend and Gallaudet University. Bethany lost a five set thriller with Gallaudet. The Bison lost three straight to Hiram the day before, ending the weekend winless.
The Bison continually played better throughout the weekend. Hiram started off hitting .625 while Bethany hit negative in the first set. The Bison bounced back in set two, actually slamming more kills than the Terriers. Errors cost the Bison, but they closed the gap and started to build momentum.
Hiram responded in a big way with 14 kills. The Green and Gold hung around, but eventually the Terriers offense became too much in a 25-18 set three victory.
Coming back from injury in the first match Sunday was McKay Ginez. The captain led the team in points despite only playing two sets. Ginez did a little bit of everything in his comeback game. He hit .312 with seven kills, served an ace, and recorded a block assist.
Two other Bison had a huge offensive showcase Sunday. Riley Burdett had a massive 17 kill game against Gallaudet. He finished with 19 points (two aces). Burdett's 17 kills now serve as the program record. Tyler Johnson also bumped his kill total into double digits. Johnson finished the game with 10 kills and 12.5 points (two aces and a block assist).
There were three Bison to notch double digit digs. Libero Cole Thomas showed his defensive prowess with 18 digs. On top of his program record 38 assists, Logan Mills saved 16 kills. Burdett rounded out the trio with 13 digs.

Rylan Trapp had his season high in kills against Hiram with five, then boosted that to seven against Gallaudet.

This is the first time in program history the Bison had multiple players with double digit kills- Burdett (17) and Johnson (10) against Gallaudet. Burdett's 17 is a program record.

Mills set a program record with 38 assists in the final game of the weekend.
The Bison will return to Presidents Athletics Conference play Friday with a match against Saint Vincent. Bethany will travel for a 7 p.m. start time.
