LYNCHBURG, Va. – Bethany College traveled to the state of Virginia for a tri-meet. They took on Lynchburg and Roanoke, losing to both in three sets.
The Bison had a consistent theme throughout the day. They lost big in the first set only to fight tooth and nail in the following sets. They sent Lynchburg to deuce in back to back sets.
Bethany had a double digit kill set against Roanoke. Set two proved to be their best set by far, tying the Hawks nearly every other point. The Bison saw the light tied at 18, but were unable to close.
Rylan Trapp finished the match hitting an even .500. Gavin McAlllister led game one with six kills, seven points, and seven digs. Riley Burdett had an impressive four aces.
The Bison threatened two set wins against the Lynchburg Hornets. Apart from their win against Carlow University, it was the closest they have gotten all year to winning multiple sets. Bethany sent set two and three to deuce, but weren't able to break that two point threshold to take home a set victory.
Burdett led the team on both sides, tallying six kills and seven digs. However, Trapp's play at the net put him atop the leaderboard for total points. He had four kills, an ace, and three block assists for 7.5 total points.
Bethany will go to Bluefield College for a single match Monday at 6 p.m.
