WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The Bison kept up with the potent Grove City Wolverine offense in game one, but faded away in game two getting swept.
Bethany had four home runs in game one. Those four home runs are more than the Bison had all season. Two long balls came from Jaden Nestor-Fox. He finished game one 3-5 with three RBI.
Gian DeGenova joined his teammate in the three RBI category. DeGenova had the longest home run of the day, launching a towering shot over the left field fence. He came around to score twice.
Sonny Peluchette was the third home run hitter. He smoked a solo home-run the other way.
The other RBI came from Tyler McKee. He almost joined the home run parade, but had to settle for a double coming up a few feet short.
Defense hurt the Bison. Four pitchers combined for six earned runs, but errors allowed Grove City to push home 11 runs, handing Bethany their first loss of the day.
The bats cooled off in game two. Hayden Fox had a two run single in the sixth inning. That was all the Bison offense could muster, falling short in game two.
Bethany will play Franciscan this Saturday. The doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m.
