STEUBENVILLE, Ohio. – The Bison pulled out a game one victory over the Franciscan Barons, but were unable to complete the sweep in game two.
Sonny Peluchette was the reason Bethany came away victorious in game one. He dealt a complete game, keeping his pitch total under 100 pitches for all 27 outs. Peluchette's final line was three earned runs and two strikeouts through nine innings. The Bison combined for five singles and three runs scored between both games at the plate.
Peluchette finishes the week going 10-17 at the plate with a pair of walks, four runs scored, an RBI, and a home run all out of the leadoff spot. On the mound, he racks up 11.2 IP, 5K, and complete game victory in one start and a scoreless relief appearance against Grove City.
Gian DeGenova continued to produce at the plate. DeGenova smoked an RBI double in game one and collected all three of Bethany's RBI himself in game two.
Grant Schaffner's two run double in the fifth inning of game one helped carry the offense to victory. Payton Davis also picked up an RBI in the game one win.
Trey Mantle got the start in game two, but gave up six runs off 11 hits early in the game. The Bison were unable to hit their way out of the hole, ending the day with a split.
Bethany will play Wooster tomorrow. It will be a single nine inning game played at 1 p.m.
