After playing a great first half, the Bethany College women's lacrosse team was outscored 10-3 in falling to Westminster Wednesday, 19-9, in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.
Westminster scored four of the first five goals in the first quarter, but the Bison had a rebuttal as senior Abbie Carpenter scored twice and junior Emily Wenger found the back of the net to pull Bethany to within one following the opening period.
Bethany was outscored 4-2 in the second period, 6-1 in the third and 4-2 in the fourth.
Junior Janez Matthews led the team with three goals, while Wenger added a pair of goals, seven draw controls, six caused turnovers, and two ground balls. Carpenter finished with two goals, four draw controls, and two ground balls.
Bethany (3-13 overall, 2-3 PAC) concludes the season 1 p.m. Saturday, traveling to Allegheny.
