Women's Soccer Drops Midweek Matchup to Marietta

MARIETTA, Ohio - The Bethany College women's soccer team was defeated by Marietta (Ohio) College in a non-conference game by a final score of 3-1 at Marietta Field.

Bethany (0-3) Leaders
  • Junior Academic All-PAC forward Jordan Palmer (East Liverpool, Ohio/Beaver Local) recorded three shots and the Bison's lone shot on goal 
  • Senior midfielder Shunnye Christopher (Bathlodge, Antigua/Christ the King) tallied three shots bringing her season total to seven
  • Junior defender Isabella Hage (Hookstown, Pa./South Side Area) also added one shot on goal
  • Junior All-PAC goalkeeper Hope Fair (Dunnville, Ontario/Lakeshore Catholic) made a game-high seven saves
Marietta (2-1-2) Leaders
  • Junior midfielder Delilah Vazquez scored the game-winner and took two shots on the night
  • Freshman midfielder Katie Heighberger finished with four shots, three shots on goal, and one goal scored
  • Junior forward Kira Korsak took three shots with two on goal and scored once
First Half (Marietta 2-0)
  • 5:25 - Vazquez got the scoring started early with an unassisted goal
  • 10:41 - Hunley fed Heighberger to tack on an insurance goal for the Pioneers

Second Half (Marietta 3-1)

  • 78:46 - Korsak put Marietta up by three with a goal at the 78' mark
  • 82:19 - The Bison got on the board thanks to a Pioneers' own goal before the game was called due to an injury
The Bison are back in action on Saturday, September 13 as they travel to Bradford, Pennsylvania for a non-conference game against the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford (Pa.) at 2 p.m. at Rathburn Family Field.
