Men's Basketball's Comeback Falls Short Against Hiram

HIRAM, Ohio - The Bethany College men's basketball team fell to Hiram (Ohio) College by a final score of 88-83 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game in Price Gymnasium.

Bethany (5-8, 1-2 PAC) Leaders
  • Senior guard Co Rose (Odessa, Texas) finished with a statline of 20 points, a game-high four assists, four rebounds, and a game-high three steals
  • Sophomore forwards Jayden Jackson (Columbia, S.C./A.C. Flora) recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 20 points 12 rebounds and one block
  • Sophomore guard Bryson Bishop (Dayton, Ohio/Stebbins) posted a career-high five blocks to go with his 10 points and five rebounds
  • Graduate Academic All-PAC guard Troy Hixson (Grove City, Ohio/Bishop Ready) also reached double-figures with his two threes and also added three rebounds and two assists
  • Freshman guard and PAC Newcomer of the Week Semaj Marshall (Washington, D.C./Parkside) stayed hot with 13 points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block
Hiram (5-9, 1-2 PAC) Leaders
  • Junior forward DJ Niles also had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds while adding four blocks
  • Senior guard Brock Makrancy led the team with 14 points shooting 5-for-8 from the floor
  • Senior guard Josh Martin also added 13 points for the Terrier offense
First Half (Hiram 40-36)
  • Jackson led the Bison by scoring 11 of his 20 points
  • The Bethany defense forced five turnovers leading to eight points in transition
  • The Bison also owned the paint with five offensive rebounds and seven second-chance points
Second Half (Hiram 88-83)
  • The Terriers took their largest lead of the game with 4:44 left to play, but the Bison went on a 15-6 run down to the final minute to cut the lead to five
  • Rose scored 18 points and tallied three rebounds and three assists to help lead the Bison comeback
  • Jackson completed his double-double with seven rebounds 
  • Bishop blocked four shots to help fuel the Bison defense down the stretch 
The Bison are back in action on Wednesday, January 14 as they travel to Steubenville, Ohio to take on the Franciscan University of Steubenville (Ohio) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game at 6 p.m. in Finnegan Fieldhouse.
