Softball Cages Chatham in Doubleheader Sweep

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Bethany College softball team swept Chatham (Pa.) University in a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader by final scores of 6-3 and 5-0 at West Field.

Game 1
At the Plate
  • Sophomore All-PAC catcher Olivia Kidd (Akron, Ohio/Mogadore) was perfect from the plate going 4-for-4 with two doubles and two runs driven in
  • Sophomore Academic All-PAC second baseman Caitlin O'Farrell (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) also tore up the Cougar pitching staff with three hits and one RBI
  • Senior All-PAC shortstop Brooke Markland (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) hit an RBI double to open the scoring in the top of the first
  • Sophomore Academic All-PAC designated player Molly Hitchen (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) collected the last hit for the Bison
  • Junior All-PAC third baseman Emma Jackson (Alliance, Ohio/Marlington) and sophomore right-hander Trinity Edge (Franklin, Pa.) each drove in a run after an error and a bases-loaded groundout, respectively

  • Edge went the distance pitching a complete game with six strikeouts as she limited Chatham to three runs on seven hits 
Game 2
At the Plate
  • Sophomore Academic All-PAC right fielder Bella Juozapaitis (Tecumseh, Mich.) tied a team-best by going 2-for-4 with a double
  • Sophomore left fielder Amber Dedmon (Canton, Ohio/Canton South) added a base hit and a stolen base
  • Jackson also went 2-for-4 with two RBI doubles
  • O'Farrell collected two more hits in her big day at the plate
  • Edge and Kidd each drove in a run for the Green and White

  • Junior Academic All-PAC right-hander Victoria Wehrberger (Sebastian, Fla./Sebastian River) made it two complete games for the Bison after holding the Cougars to five hits and three walks and striking out two in seven shutout innings
The Bison are back in action Tuesday, March 31 as they host a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader against Thiel (Pa.) College beginning at 3 p.m. at Bison Field.
