FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Bethany College softball team defeated La Roche (Pa.) University and the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford (Pa.) by final scores of 9-4 and 8-3 in a non-conference doubleheader at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic at the Lee County Sports Complex.

At the Plate
- Senior All-PAC shortstop Brooke Markland (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) finished 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI, and two runs scored
- Sophomore center fielder Trinity Edge (Franklin, Pa.) also had a multi-hit game with a double and a stolen base while scoring two runs
- Sophomore All-PAC catcher Olivia Kidd (Akron, Ohio/Mogadore) and sophomore Academic All-PAC second baseman Caitlin O'Farrell (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) each added a hit and an RBI
- Freshman first baseman Jenna Nolan (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny) delivered on a sac fly to bring one more run home for the Bison

- Junior Academic All-PAC right-hander Victoria Wehrberger (Sebastian, Fla./Sebastian River) went the distance where she held the Redhawks to four runs on nine hits and two walks, but fanned eight batters in her second complete game of the season

- Junior All-PAC third baseman Emma Jackson (Allliance, Ohio/Marlington) led the Bethany offense by going 3-for-4 with two RBI
- Markland tallied two more hits, drew two walks, scored two runs, and stole one base
- Nolan finished 2-for-3 with one RBI off another sacrifice fly
- Kidd drove in two runs along with another hit
In the Circle
- Edge also pitched a complete game where she had seven strikeouts and gave up only two earned runs on seven hits and four walks
The Bison are back in action Monday, March 9 as they continue the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Florida by taking on La Roche (Pa.) University and the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford (Pa.) in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at Lee County Sports Complex.
