BETHANY, W.Va. - The Bethany College softball team swept Grove City (Pa.) College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader by final scores of 4-3 and 3-2 at Bison Field.
Game 1
At the Plate
- Sophomore All-PAC catcher Olivia Kidd (Akron, Ohio/Mogadore) finished a team-best 3-for-4 including the walk-off base hit in the bottom of the ninth
- Sophomore right-hander Trinity Edge (Franklin, Pa.) was one of three Bison with two hits and hit a solo shot in the bottom of the seventh to send the game to extras
- Sophomore left fielder Amber Dedmon (Canton, Ohio/Canton South) and freshman first baseman Jenna Nolan (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny) each had a multi-hit game for Bethany
- Senior All-PAC shortstop Brooke Markland (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) only had one hit in the first game but it was a no-doubter to right to cut into the Grove City lead
- Junior All-PAC third baseman Emma Jackson (Alliance, Ohio/Marlington) and senior All-PAC designated player Katelyn Ziems (Bowling Green, Ohio) each contributed one hit for the Bison
- Freshman utility player Kyleigh Anderson (Clarksburg, W.Va./Bridgeport) scored one run in her home debut
In the Circle
- Edge had the longest outing of her career pitching nine innings and striking out 10 while giving up only two earned runs on nine hits and three walks to earn her 10th victory of the year
Game 2
At the Plate
- Edge concluded her all-around day with two more hits
- Jackson recorded two RBI on a base hit to open the game and a fielder's choice to walk it off for the second time of the day for the Bison
- Markland added another hit and a sac fly
- Dedmon went 1-for-3 and scored two of the Green and White's three runs
- Senior right fielder Trista Morris (Woodsfield, Ohio/Monroe Central), Kidd, and Nolan each added another hit for the Green and White
In the Circle
- Edge went the distance again as she had eight strikeouts and held the Wolverines to one earned run in nine innings of work finishing with well over 275 pitches on the day
The Bison are back in action Wednesday, April 15 as they travel to Meadville, Pennsylvania to take on Allegheny (Pa.) College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. at Robertson Softball Field.
