Baseball Takes on Allegheny in Waterlogged Doubleheader

BETHANY, W.Va. - The Bethany College baseball team fell to Allegheny (Pa.) College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader by final scores of 23-3 and 12-9 at Bethany Park.

Game 1
At the Plate
  • Sophomore center fielder Niko Heidt (San Diego, Calif./Monte Vista) finished a perfect 2-for-2 with a run scored
  • Sophomore right fielder Marco Gonzalez (Oviedo, Fla.) drove in a run for the Bison with a sac fly to right
  • Senior All-PAC second baseman Jaden Nestor-Fox (Vermilion, Ohio) also collected two hits with an RBI double
On the Mound
  • Senior All-PAC right-hander Sonny Peluchette (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Central Catholic), freshman right-hander Dominic Fry (Caldwell, Ohio), freshman right-hander Landon Holley (Cecil, Pa./Canon-McMillan), and freshman right-hander Chris Stathos (Batavia, Ohio/West Clermont) took the mound against the Gators
Game 2
At the Plate
  • Junior shortstop Evan Hegarty (Poland, Ohio/Poland Seminary) and Peluchette each went 2-for-3 with two RBI
  • Freshman catcher Kolton Smittle (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) had another multi-hit game for the Green and White
  • Senior right fielder Payton Zupko (Mineral Ridge, Ohio) and Nestor-Fox supplied the last two RBI for the Bison
  • Gonzalez went 2-for-2 with a double and a sac fly
  • Heidt also had two hits and drove in a run
On the Mound
  • Freshman left-hander Noah Stonerock (Circleville, Ohio/Westfall) had a solid five-inning outing where he had two strikeouts and held Allegheny to three runs 
  • Sophomore right-hander Billy Sloan (North Jackson, Ohio/Jackson-Milton) and Gonzalez then came on to pitch the sixth and seventh, respectively, where each had two strikeouts
The Bison are back in action Saturday, April 18 as they travel to New Wilmington, Pennsylvania to take on Westminster (Pa.) College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at the Westminster Baseball Field.
