BETHANY, W.Va. - The Bethany College softball team hosted Senior Day as they took on Saint Vincent (Pa.) College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader where they lost the first game by a final score of 7-3 and won the second by a final score of 5-0 at Bison Field.
Prior to the doubleheader, Bethany honored seniors
Bella Belcher (Parma Heights, Ohio/Padua Franciscan),
Emma Jackson (Alliance, Ohio/Marlington),
Brooke Markland (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward),
Trista Morris (Woodsfield, Ohio/Monroe Central), and
Katelyn Ziems (Bowling Green, Ohio). Bethany (23-8, 13-5 PAC) fell early in Game 1 but fought their way back before Saint Vincent (17-15, 9-9 PAC) exploded for a second three-run frame in the fifth. Looking to bounce back, the Green and White scored three runs in the first three innings and held off the Bearcats for their fifth shutout of the season.

At the Plate
- Senior All-PAC designated player Katelyn Ziems (Bowling Green, Ohio) hit a two-run double to cut the Bearcat lead to one in the fourth inning
- Senior Academic All-PAC right fielder Trista Morris (Woodsfield, Ohio/Monroe Central) finished 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI single
- Sophomore Academic All-PAC second baseman Caitlin O'Farrell (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) went 2-for-4 with a double
- Sophomore All-PAC catcher Olivia Kidd (Akron, Ohio/Mogadore) and freshman first baseman Jenna Nolan (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny) also collected two base hits each

- Despite being credited with the loss, sophomore right-hander Trinity Edge (Franklin, Pa.) held Saint Vincent to three earned runs and struck out six batters in yet another complete game for the Bison starter

At the Plate
- Senior All-PAC third baseman Emma Jackson (Alliance, Ohio/Marlington) went 2-for-3 with two solo shots including a moonshot over the tent in left field
- Senior All-PAC shortstop Brooke Markland (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) had one hit, scored two runs, and swiped the Bison's only bag of the day
- Senior right-hander Bella Belcher (Parma Heights, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) celebrated her Senior Day with her first home at-bat of the season
- Morris continued her big day going 1-for-2 with an RBI single in the second to open the scoring
- Ziems tied a team-high two RBI to help extend the Bison lead
- Edge also went 2-for-3 for the Bison

- Junior Academic All-PAC right-hander Victoria Wehrberger (Sebastian, Fla./Sebastian River) secured the complete game shutout by striking out two batters and allowing only seven hits for her eighth victory of the season
The Bison are back in action Monday, April 20 as they host a non-conference doubleheader against La Roche (Pa.) University beginning at 3 p.m. at Bison Field.
